Today, Fortune and Great Place to Work announced the list of 100 Best Companies to Work For 2019, and I’m honored to share that SAP America has made this prestigious list for the third consecutive year! This recognition is truly a testament to all our employees and the culture we have collectively built over the years.
As I reflected on what makes up SAP’s winning culture, I have found it is hard to pinpoint. Our culture isn’t something that was created in a conference room and that you can easily put on paper. It is dynamic and constantly evolving, reflective of the diverse perspectives of every employee as they learn and grow throughout their careers at SAP.
Perhaps the best way to describe our culture is through our employee value proposition: “Bring everything you are. Become everything you want.” SAP believes that when people are in an environment where they can bring their whole selves, not just the person who comes to work, everyone wins.
I believe you can’t drive innovation without inclusion, and this sentiment is embraced whole-heartedly at SAP as each employees’ unique perspective has fueled the company’s growth and evolution over the years. With high touch programs like Autism at Work, flexible work schedules that enable employees to pursue their passions outside of work, and our employee-led networks like Black Employee Network, Business Women’s Network, Latinos at SAP, and Pride at SAP, the organization has developed so many great ways to empower people to proudly be who they are.
SAP represents what can be made possible when a company unleashes talented people with a bold vision and purpose. As one of the biggest software companies in the world, we have an incredible opportunity to make a real difference – and we take that opportunity seriously: Employees collectively donated over 40,000 hours of their time to volunteer in 2018. Our purpose, to help the world run better and improve people’s lives, isn’t just a phrase that looks nice on a website. We believe in a future where technology makes the world run better…where we can help fuel innovation, foster equality and spread opportunity across the communities in which we (and our customers) live and work.
I’m honored to have spent the last 23 years surrounded with people who are passionate about envisioning and creating a better world, and who take pride in continuing to shape and improve the place in which we work. We have never had a culture that rests on our laurels, and as a proud SAP employee, I look forward to helping shape SAP’s next chapter as we continue to set new standards for what it means to be a “Best Company to Work For.”
