SAP appointed Cristina Palmaka as the new president of SAP for Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). She has been in charge of SAP Brazil since 2013, having held several important executive positions at major technology companies in the Brazilian market.
She will replace Claudio Muruzabal, who will become president of SAP for the southern part of the EMEA region, which includes southern Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and will also remain connected to SAP customers and partners as chairman for Latin America and the Caribbean.
"I am very pleased to have Cristina, one of our highest-performing executives, lead our business in Latin America, continuing her very successful career as president of SAP Brazil. The impact that Cristina has had on our business in Brazil has an enormous reach, and I look forward to having her inspiring brand of leadership and engagement across the region," said Adaire Fox-Martin, a member of SAP's executive board and director of the Customer Success organization, in a statement.
Under Cristina's leadership, SAP Brazil has earned an EDGE certification for Gender Equality and has been highlighted in several rankings covering workplace issues and diversity. Cristina will continue to oversee SAP Brasil's operations until a replacement is appointed.
During her work at SAP Brasil, she made the Brazilian subsidiary one of the best performers worldwide, always focusing on teamwork and development. She is a great advocate of diversity and inclusion in the workplace, has received important awards, and has been named one of the top CEOs in Brazil by Forbes magazine. She has received several recognitions as an IT leader and influencer in the area of business-oriented technology and economic growth.
"It is a great honor to be president of SAP LAC and join a team of 5,000 employees in Latin America and the Caribbean. I look forward to supporting our 48,500 customers in the region, providing an excellent experience regardless of circumstances," says Cristina Palmaka. "I also want to be able to extend the impressive legacy that Claudio has left, with solid relationships, deep expertise, and trust. And finally, I look forward to this new phase, in which we can continue to count on your valuable support as chairman for SAP LAC," concludes the executive.
