The agribusiness has emerged in the area of Digital Transformation from the high level of technology embedded in the equipment used in the field, and innovation in this sector has driven the entire ecosystem. With an eye on this demand, Tracan, a group of dealers and the world's largest reseller of Case IH brand sugarcane harvesters, decided to invest in updating its management software by adopting SAP S/4Hana to digitize its operation and offer the customer a service compatible with the technological level of the equipment the company resells.
The implementation project, led by Focus IT, a consulting company specialized in SAP services, support, support and supply of complementary solutions, brought to Tracan the condition to offer faster and more customized service solutions, which often occurs in the field itself, reducing the execution time. In addition, the system will provide a preventive program for machine maintenance through the use of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, reducing downtime mainly during the harvest.
According to Anderson Rocha, Tracan Group's planning and strategy manager, the expectation is to halve maintenance time and avoid machine downtime in the field. The maintenance tools, now all computerized, will interface with the S/4Hana, which extracts the data and indicates in a service order the problem it received service, the hours spent with the service and the level of wear of parts and consumption of lubricants, recording electronically when it will be necessary to perform the repair. Automatically, the system will issue an alert so that the part is available in the scheduled time for maintenance, in addition to scheduling the allocation of the specialist who will perform the service.
"With this set of information, we can have predictability of the service and whether we will have profit or loss, enabling a faster and more assertive decision making, promoting a proactive management of our business. Before, all this depended on the filling out of spreadsheets and the updating in the system took time, causing delays in parts orders and, consequently, in customer service and billing", explains Rocha.
The results achieved in a few months of using the new SAP platform by Tracan were not only due to the ease of adaptation, but also due to the knowledge of the implementation team, led by Focus IT, which had been supporting the company's systems since 2017, besides being the supplier of the tax solution used by Tracan. Now, the consultancy assumes the support for the S/4Hana improvements.
"Tracan is an example of a project that should be a reference for companies that are insecure with the move to the new SAP platform. We could see that the transition from the old system to the current one made it possible to reduce parallel controls, expanded automation, and prepared the company to differentiate itself in the market," says Luciano Steinbruch, CEO of Focus IT.
The next steps for Tracan, according to Rocha, are to deliver more mobility to users through the SAP Fiori feature, in addition to expanding the use of integration by the production and customer service areas to others, such as Human Resources and CRM (Customer Relationship Management).
